The Present Moment and Ignatian Spirituality

Price: $40.00

Date: November 14, 2016

Led by Dr. Andy Kereky
Monday, November 14
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Cost: $40

Where can I find God in my life? The Present Moment! Why am I often not in the present moment? And where am I? How can I most deeply experience the fullness of God's presence in the present moment? Using video, music, scripture, reflections, props, (and humor), join me as we explore the intimate connection between Ignatian Spirituality and living in the present moment. There will be mass to close out the program.

Dr. Andy Kereky is the Director of Spiritual Development at St. Raphael Parish in Bay Village, Ohio. He has successfully adapted the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises for children as his doctoral project. This has become part of the fifth grade religious curriculum at St. Raphael School and Andy has shared it with various schools in Northern Ohio. To date, there is no evidence this has ever been done before. Andy was born many, many years ago (1949) in Parma, Ohio. After high school and a brief exposure to college, he spent 28 years at AT&T in Cleveland and New Jersey holding a multitude of positions including systems analyst, computer programmer, office automation analyst and, finally, sales support. Returning to the Catholic Church after a twenty-three year absence he joined St. Raphael Parish in 1990. Becoming a religion teacher, lector and eucharistic minister at St. Raphael deepened his newly-rekindled love for the Church. Andy’s faith journey led him to a Catholic seminary for four years studying for the priesthood. His discernment eventually led him from the seminary to serve the Lord as a lay person. It was through this experience that Andy discovered the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises and how they could benefit the faith life of children as they have been for adults for over 450 years. Andy is currently involved in leading children in retreat experiences beginning in kindergarten as well as adult retreats, workshops on prayer, scripture, and living in the present moment.
