Stations of the Cross - First Station

Pilate condemns Jesus to death.

We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you;
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

Reflection

Scripture:
Then the whole assembly of them arose and brought Jesus before Pilate. They brought  charges against him, saying, We found this man misleading our people; he opposes the payment of taxes to Caesar and maintains that he is the Messiah, a king. With loud shouts, however, they persisted in calling for his crucifixion and their voices prevailed. The verdict of Pilate was that their demand should be granted.

A Prayer

My Jesus, Lord,
obedience cost you your life.
For me
it costs an act of will
no more
and yet how hard it is for me to bend.

Remove the blinders from my eyes
that I may see that it is you whom I obey
in all who govern me.
Lord, it is you.
