Sr. Mary Ann Flannery is a leading Cleveland-area educator who served most recently as associate professor and chair of the communications department at John Carroll University, the Jesuit university in Cleveland.  She is an experienced retreat director, spiritual director, and speaker who is well-versed in Catholic spirituality as well as the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. She also has been blessed with considerable leadership experience, serving on the board of the Sisters of Charity Foundation in Cleveland as well as the leadership team of her religious congregation, the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati.

 

Former Jesuit Retreat House board chair Dan Cotter expressed enthusiasm at the hiring of Flannery, saying she “is the right person to direct our vision and mission.” 

 

Upon assuming her her role as director in August 2008, Flannery made her leadership vision clear: “We have embarked on a journey of a new commitment to the People of God who seek direction in their lives…through the Ignatian charism and its grace in their careers, parishes, and families…I am happy to welcome those who want to share their gifts, through Ignatian spirituality, with the many they serve on their journey of faith.”
